About Seastar
AN ELDERLY MAN WAS strolling along the beach after a heavy rain. As he walked, in the distance he saw a young child bending down, and repeatedly tossing things into the water. As he got closer, he saw hundreds of seastars (starfish) on the sand, drying out, having been washed on the shore during the storm. It was seastars that the child was picking up and throwing into the water. When he approached the child, he said, “Little one, what are you doing? There are hundreds of these poor animals lying here-you will never be able to save them all.”
The child looked up at him, with a wrinkled brow. After thinking for a few moments, the child brightened up, smiled, and reached down to pick up one more. As that seastar hit the water and floated away, the child said, “Maybe not all of them, but I just saved that one.”
The elderly man stood in reflection for a moment, then reached down and joined the child. He began saving the sea stars too, one at a time.
Philosophy
It was this story that touched the hearts of Reverends Andrew and Deborah Jackson. It gave voice to what was in their hearts. - "We may not be able to alleviate all the suffering in the world, but we can do our part, and make a difference little by little." This is the philosophy that gave birth to Seastar Services, Inc.
VISION
Our vision is a world where all children live with:
- enough to eat
- clean drinking water
- access to education and advancement
- peace
- a healthy environment.
We will effectuate this vision one child at a time, one project at a time.
