Projects
Leogane, Haiti
Seastar Services has been working in Haiti since 2010 both in response to the earthquake of January, 2010 and the extreme poverty that is a part of the history of Haiti.
CURRENT PROJECTS:
BONNE NOVELLE DE BIGONET PRIMARY SCHOOL
325 students attend the neighborhood primary school. Seastar has taken on the responsibility of support for the Lower School, grades K—4. The budget is $3000.00/year.
ADOPT A CHILD’S TUITION PROGRAM (ACT)
There are currently no free schools in Haiti. Tuition at Bonne Nouvelle de Bigonet Primary school is $33 per year per child. There are 26 children in our community of Barriere Jeudi whose families cannot afford to send them to school.
We are looking for individuals who would like to support this effort. Some might like to “adopt” the child, and pledge to support the tuition for all the years he/she attends school. You will get updates about the children’s progress as they move through the school.
SOLAR IRRIGATION PROJECT (SIP)
Seastar Services, Inc. supports a group of mango farmers, Due to seasonal drought conditions, an irrigation system is needed to bring underground water to the surface and transport it to the mango grove. We are seeking individuals and organizations to partner with us in this venture.
KLINIK LASANTE MEDICAL CLINIC
Klinik Lasante is a small medical clinic close to the center of Leogane. Seastar is collecting and sending medical sup-plies to stock the shelves at the clinic. We are also seeking medical personnel and medical organizations who are inter-ested in medical mission work to go and offer services.
COMPLETED PROJECTS:
Seastar Services, Inc. assisted the Children of Promise International (COPI) Orphanage in Leogane from 2010 through 2014. This small orphanage houses 60 children. We began our work by sending collecting children’s clothing from our supporters, and sending barrels of the clothing as well as dry goods as support. Our next project was to help put a new roof on the children’s dormitory. Since the earthquake, many children were uncomfortable sleeping in buildings that have concrete roofs. As a result, they were sleeping in a one story dorm, with a tin roof.
Primary School
The Primary School that is associated with the orphanage instructs 250 students each day. The children come from the COPI orphanage, other local orphanages, and the surrounding community. The children received a hot meal only two days each week for lunch. Seastar sent financial support which provide all the children with one additional hot meal, so they had hot luncesh three times a week. For many of the students, these are the only hot meals that they receive, as their families still live in such dire straits.
Displaced family
Seastar adopted a grandmother who lost her daughter and son in law in the earthquake. She is now raising her five grandchildren in a tent, because the family home was damaged and is structurally unsound. We identified supporters who pledged to send financial support monthly to assist with school fees, uniforms, and family support. We also obtained and sent a foot powered sewing machine, which allowed this seamstress to re-start her business, which ended after the earthquake.
OSUN, NIGERIA
Seastar Services, Inc. began a relationship with Presiding Elder Margaret Fadahen, in Osun, Nigeria in 2016. This relationship led to the support of students involved in the youth program of Christ Love AME Church.

The Program is currently located in the Christ Love AME Church premises and runs the resource center program in the church facility. The program caters to children and young people aged 6 – 18 years.
